Insert / Outsert / reel 2 reel / Overmolding

Since 1998 we have been building molds for our customers, in 1999 we started our first insert molding project in Asia for a customer in Switzerland. Overmolding is now our biggest revenue source at Kramski and we are expanding at a very dynamic growth rate through all of our locations.

Please find below a few case studies which we are allowed to present to the public:

Compliant Pin technology with assembled PCB

4 cavities with 6 compliant pins each are handloaded on a rotary table into one of the 2 bottom halfs of the mold. After overmolding we run the parts through our assembly line, where we assemble the PCB and test each part with High Voltage, pin height and shortage, next to dimensional quality control.

Reel 2 Reel molding of a contact system

A fully automated reel 2 reel solution allows us to pre-stamp the material, run it through a galvanic process (Au plating), load it into the automated line, where we final bend the parts, overmold, assemble a seal ring during the process before the part gets cut off and is handed over to an integrated qc station where we check high voltage, pin length, pin position and shortage of the contacts. The parts are then automatically packed in vacuum formed trays.

    Heat sensitive thermo bi-metal switch

A pre-stamped material with a rivet made from a wire during the process is fed into a reel 2 reel molding tool with 8 cavities. After overmolding the strip is lead into a final assembly tool where we assemble a CuBe spring with a welded Ag contact on it on assembly station 1, assemble an additonal bimetall part which is formed on its way to assembly station 2 and finally assembly the system with a resistance welding system together before we cut off the part and lead it through a chute to its packaging location.
